#FDS2026

Science Festival 2026

From 03 Oct. 2026 to 04 Oct. 2026

Montpellier Science Village (Village des sciences de Montpellier)

For this 2026 edition, the DGIMI laboratory is offering an activity on the theme "Insects, plants, worms, microbes: who eats whom?".

In agro-ecosystems, a real feast is happening right before our eyes… often without us even noticing! Plants, pest insects, soil worms, and microorganisms are all connected through complex feeding relationships called trophic interactions.

On October 3rd and 4th, 2026 (from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), the public will be able to explore a world where every organism, from the largest to the tiniest, has its place… at the table! Visitors will also get to discover the research of the UMR "Diversity, Genomes and Microorganism-Insect Interactions" (DGIMI), dedicated to studying the interaction mechanisms between crop pest insects, their suite of pathogens and parasites, and their host plants. DGIMI is jointly supervised by INRAE and the University of Montpellier.
